Damaraland
Considered to be one of the most scenic parts of Namibia, Damaraland is a place of ancient rivers, Namibia’s highest mountains, grasslands and spectacular rock formations. Rock engravings and paintings bear testimony to the lives of the Bushmen who roamed the area in the distant past.
Besides the spectacular scenery and artworks Damaraland boasts spectacular wildlife that includes the desert-adapted elephants and rhinos and herds of springbok. The wildlife of the area is depicted in the rock art that adorns the mountains of the region.
Apart from the rock art and wildlife other attractions of Damaraland include a petrified forest and rock formations such as the ‘Vingerklip’. The Brandberg and Spitzkoppe are renowned among rock climbers and sightseers alike and a new concept of trekking the desert rhinos and elephants has been introduced in Damaraland.
